It’s been an exciting week at MIND Research with two big area school districts posting great results thanks to ST Math! 

Our friends at Lynchburg City Schools in Virginia announced triple the growth rate in Virginia Standards of Learning math scores, on average, at eight of their schools piloting ST Math. Schools serving low-income, high-needs students across the state piloted ST Math last year thanks to partnerships between the Cisco Foundation and the Virginia Department of Education

“While our students love JiJi the penguin, we knew they were learning math concepts and building important problem solving skills in the process,” said Scott Brabrand, Superintendent of Lynchburg City Schools, referring to the animated penguin featured in the ST Math games. “Now we see the proof with significantly improved test scores.”

Peter Tavernise, Corporate Affairs Director for the Cisco Foundation expanded on the results as well as the benefits of ST Math in his recent blog post “Removing Langauge Barriers from Math Education Improves Student Achievement” 

Lynchburg City Schools aren’t the only ones having success with ST Math! Today we announced a recent analysis shows that schools implementing ST Math in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) have triple the growth on math proficiency. In fact the proficiency rate in DCPS is now at a record level. 

“We are certainly pleased with the growth we’ve seen among our students using ST Math,” said Atasha James, principal at Leckie Elementary. “Clearly, the hard work of our teachers, combined with innovative blended learning tools like ST Math, is making a difference for our children’s learning outcomes.”
